The quality of drugs made of biological material, in particular umbilical cord blood / umbilical cord / placenta, and the viability of stem cells isolated from them, depends not only on the processing of initial material, but also on the peculiarities of collection and transportation of tissues from the maternity clinic.
This has been repeatedly emphasized by the authoritative international organization Parents’ Guide to Cord Blood Foundation, which defends the right of future parents for the trustworthy information about the storage and use of umbilical cord blood, umbilical cord, placenta. The Cord Blood Association, whose full member is the Institute of Cell Therapy, and the Association of Cryobanks of Umbilical Cord Blood, Other Human Cells and Tissues, etc., pays not less attention to the issues of quality collection, transportation and processing of perinatal tissues (umbilical cord blood, umbilical cord, placenta). The co-founder and full member of the latter is the Institute of Cell Therapy.
The conditions for the collection, transportation, processing, testing and cryopreservation of umbilical cord blood are set out in the EU Directives and the NetCord / FACT International Standards for Cord Blood Collection, Banking, and Release for Administration.
The quality of consumables, anticoagulants (substances that prevent blood clotting), cryoprotectants (substances that protect cells from ultra-low temperatures), the temperature of transportation are the first important factors that determine the further suitability of the collected biomaterial for the manufacturing of appropriate biologics and therapeutic efficacy.
After analyzing the international requirements, the experience of leading foreign biobanks and the best offers of world manufacturers, the Institute of Cell Therapy for the first time in Ukraine has created its own “Kit for Collection and Transportation of Human Biological Material”, which includes certified by the Ministry of Health of Ukraine consumables.
The container is designed to protect the material from mechanical damage and ensure the required temperature during the entire time of transportation from any region of Ukraine to the capital’s laboratory of the Institute of Cell Therapy. To monitor the temperature of transportation, the kit includes a registrator that performs continuous temperature recording. The balanced content of anticoagulant in the package for collecting umbilical cord blood allows to keep its valuable biological properties for a long time. The Institute of Cell Therapy also pays considerable attention to the proper training of maternity hospital staff for the quality collection of biological material during childbirth.
You can order your individual “Kit for Collection and Transportation of Human Biological Material” by signing an agreement with the Institute of Cell Therapy Cryobank.
